Celebrating Our Capstone Projects

As our 16-week adventure nears its end, TrailBreak students have poured energy and imagination into their capstone projects.

What is a Capstone?

The capstone project challenges students to identify a need in our outdoor space and design a solution, using the skills and knowledge they’ve gained in previous modules.

  • Research: Observing pollinators and designing native flower beds

  • Building: Constructing weather stations or wildlife shelters

  • Creative Arts: Crafting interpretive trail markers for visitors

Student Reflections

“We thought the creek needed more shade. Our group built willow screens, and next year’s kids will see them grow!” —Lila, age 12

“My favorite part was working with my family on site during our Capstone Day.” —Rory, age 10

Family Presentations

Capstone Week culminated in joyful presentations, with families touring each project and students sharing stories of trial, error, and triumph. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and can’t wait to see what next semester brings!
